  • As part of its ReUrbanism initiative, the National Trust for Historic Preservation has produced interactive maps which chart the age and character of cities across the United States.

      • The Atlas of ReUrbanism is an evolving and expanding tool, allowing users to explore the built environment of American cities, block by block. Using our maps, you can interact with data on your city's built assets, and click to layer demographic, economic, and environmental data from the U.S. Census, American Community Survey, and more. The maps focus on the Character Score for buildings and blocks across 50 U.S. cities, as established in the Preservation Green Lab’s Older, Smaller, Better report. Individual building and block characteristics are also selectable and viewable.

      • The maps highlight the median age of buildings and the size of buildings and parcels. Information is distilled into 200-by-200-meter squares and color coded. The atlas gives each grid square a Character Score, which is a function of its buildings’ sizes and ages. This score can be compared to other measurable quantities, such as economic growth, to better understand the impact of older buildings within the city fabric. Other layers in the maps include National Historic Landmarks, City Landmarks, and National Historic Districts.

各個建築年代地圖的觀察小記

  • 基本框架
    • 呈現「目前現有的建築物」為主
  • 什麼不呈現
    • 已拆除、移動等基本上不顯示，例如遺址、已拆除的建築
    • 單一建築物被移動過的歷程，例如台北市林安泰古厝
    • 基礎建設與非建築型態的公共設施物、自然環境型態，例如人造河堤興建前後的河流型態是不同的，或是海岸新生地
    • 所以嚴格來說，雖然有些建築年代地圖提供時間軸選項，讓你呈現某一年份的建築物分布狀況，但其實並非真的當時的建築物全貌狀況，且也沒有同時呈現當時的地景環境的樣貌（例如河道改變、填海造陸...等）

    • As contemporary conflicts increasingly take place within urban areas, homes and neighbourhoods become targets and most civilian casualties occur within cities and buildings. Urban battlefields have become dense data and media environments, generating information that is shared on social and mainstream media. Many violations, undertaken within cities and buildings, are now caught on camera and are made available almost instantly. The premise of FA is that analysing IHL and HR violations must involve modelling dynamic events as they unfold in space and time and creating navigable 3D models of environments undergoing conflict, as well as the creation of filmic animations, and interactive cartographies on the urban or architectural scale.
